THE #WHATNORMALFEELSLIKE SELFIE

Do you check your boobs regularly? Do you check your boobs at all, or are you someone that avoids doing so just in case you find something that feels odd?

I was never a boob checker. "Breast cancer won't happen to me" was always my excuse as I believed that breast cancer was a disease in middle aged or older women. That opinion was changed when I heard of the charity CoppaFeel! CoppaFeel! was started by Kris Hallenga, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the more unexpected age of 23. She was diagnosed at stage 4, which meant that Kris' cancer was terminal.

It was back in 2013 that I first heard of CoppaFeel! and the Uni Boob Team. CoppaFeel! is a breast cancer awareness charity. Kris and her twin sister Maren started up this little charity in order to promote breast cancer awareness in younger women, because as they know better than anyone; it can happen to us too.

The Uni Boob Team is a campaign started by CoppaFeel! whereby universities across the UK have a Uni Boob Team leader, who gets together a group of individuals to spread the message of CoppaFeel! - CHECK YOUR BOOBIES! - to women across university campus. And today you're looking right at the University of Leeds Uni Boob Team leader! Hello! *insert waving emoji*

This week, week commencing the 23rd February, is Boob Week, which means its time to up the anti with this boob checking malark and get as many of you checking as possible. This boob week, I wanted to attempt something special You've all seen the amazing/fantastic/wonderful work thats been carried out by the likes of the #nomakeupselfie and #ALSIceBucketChallenge, so I wanted to start the #whatnormalfeelslike selfie campaign.

#whatnormalfeelslike is the campaign for CoppaFeel! this year and it involves promoting regular boob-touching, so that us girls get to know what exactly our normal is, so that we would know if something went wrong. So what do your boobs feel like normally? Mine feel a bit like playdough, a bit squidgy but a bit firm too. It's not about what they look like, it's how they feel.

So here I am, CoppaFeel! Uni Boob Team Leader, convincing you to spread the boob love and tell the world how your boobs feel on a day to day basis. The more checking we do, the more likely we are to know if something goes wrong and the earlier we can catch breast cancer.

All you have to do is take a picture of yourself feeling your own boob, using the hashtag #whatnormalfeelslike to tell us how they feel and then tag 3 or 4 friends to get involved also! Simple!

You don't have to have been nominated to do this challenge, just go for it and start the trend yourself or thank me for your nomination! You can redirect your friends here if they want to know a bit more about the charity and its work.

Please tag your friends and get involved - if you fancy writing a blog post or sharing the charity's work on social media, please do. Let's get them UK gals feeling their boobs.

Boob love, Steph xxxx
