Who doesn't want skin like Kim Kardashian? Even the haters can't deny the HD look of her skin. It's a well renowned fact in the beauty community that Kim K's  flawless finish has been achieved in the past using none other than Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. I'm wanted to get my mits on this for ages and for some reason didn't pick it up during my visit to Paris last year. I haven't wanted to buy it online because I wasn't sure of the shade that would best suit me, not to mention the hefty price tag. When I came across a Sephora in La Rochelle last week and had a few extra euros in my pocket I fiiiiiiiiinally grabbed it.
I just have to clear something up...this foundation's packaging usually looks far more fabulous than mine does in these photos. Unfortunately, on the plane home from Nantes, my base coat lid wasn't screwed on tight enough and the leakage went all over everything in my little plastic bag of toiletries! Just my luck, the worst hit was my brand new, MUFE foundation. Thanks, base coat. You can see the the letters have all moved and the plastic is all rough looking - I've included some extra pictures to emphasise the damage.
The packaging of this foundation, pre-polish-explosion, is glorious. Pump? Hard, clear bottle? Chic design? Yes yes yes! It looks so glamorous and you can see that it's not a high street purchase. I can cover my entire face in around 1.5 pumps and a little goes a long way - it's quite a thin consistency so spreads out nicely. I chose the shade N115 which on the website is Ivory. I was initially worried that this shade would be a little too light for my skin tone, particularly during the Summer, but it matches perfectly. I usually wear the shade Buff in Revlon ColorStay Foundation or Ivory in the Rimmel ranges, just so you can get a little idea of colour similarities. I find it applies best with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush onto a moisturised face. It does have a tendency to cling to dry spots but it doesn't look patchy and this is only noticeable if you're looking for it.
I haven't had any photos taken with flash yet but Make Up For Ever HD Foundation promises no flashback, as it contains no SPF. This means that it's great for events and nights out, but not to much for days out in the Sun. It gives a lovely finish yet I would describe coverage as light to medium, unlike the medium to heavy that I was expecting. However, saying that, this manages to cover blemishes and spots very well, even without concealer. It definitely gives a 'your skin but better' look. It works very well for oily skin like mine and when set with a powder it can last all day.
At $42/€37 it's quite a spend but it's a lovely little treat for special occasions and days where you go all out with make up!
Have you tried this or any other Make Up For Ever products?
Do you want to see any before and after HD foundation shots?
Love, Steph xxxx

    1. It gives a flawless finish but you don't look cakey, if that makes sense, so to me I would class it as light-medium. But it masks spots etc quite well xx

  2. Steph, your instagram piccies lately have been gorge-you're so pretty! I love this foundation-I use it currently as my evening foundation because it has no SPF. We're the same shade!
