REVIEW: Andrea Fulerton Gemstone Overcoat

My first nail-related post. I can tell you that this will be the first of many!

I picked up this Gemstone Overcoat after I saw a post about it on Fleur De Force's blog whilst having a stalk late last summer. I am always looking to try out new, cool things on my nails without having to mess about with nail "pens" that take forever to dry and look lumpy and crap anyway. So when I saw this i thought it looked perfect for me.

I bought it for £4.99 in Superdrug (UK buyers can buy it here). I think that the price is quite reasonable for the effect you get on the nails. It has an orange/yellow/green shine to it which is great but I feel that it limits the colours that you can put underneath it. I tend to go with oranges/greens when I use it but on the photos I have included a photo of when I used a shimmery-blue Fearne Cotton colour. it did actually look really nice and gave a sort of firework effect which is perfect for the winter months - obviously the 5th November in particular!! The photo with the red underneath it was taken on the first day I bought the polish and at that point the polish and the bottle were, as you can see - in very good condition!

I have had it a good 10 months now and the polish has become quite sticky and gloopy and the writing on the bottle has completely worn off! I don't think this is too much of a downfall, and I think that the stickiness is purely due to the nature of the product. I can't really complain though, I have used it as a topcoat so many times that of course it's going to go a little..well...off! I think if I added a bit of nail polish remover the problem would be somewhat solved, though.

Overall it gives a really cute effect and makes your nails stand out from others - and if that's what you aim for - try it!
